This event will cover contemporary technology topics for those using SQL Server in 2012, as well as providing a chance to make and meet with SQL Server community friends.
The event will have three main sessions, and a SQL Server news session at the beginning of the evening:
SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse (8.00-9.00pm)
Ryan Simpson – Parallel Data Warehouse Technical Solution Professional- Microsoft
This session will introduce and explore the background behind Microsoft’s scale out data warehousing platform – Parallel Data Warehouse – and discuss some of the reasons for considering it rather than traditional on-premise environments.
Time to get creative, situations the BI textbooks don’t tell you about (7.15-8.00pm)
Caralyn Ford – Business Intelligence Consultant – Hitachi
Caralyn will talk us through a recent project where the vendor supplied tools just weren’t capable enough for the job despite how reasonably simple the requirement seemed. Instead, the project team had to get creative and implement their own custom solution which this session will explore.
SQL Server and the Common Language Runtime – A newcomer’s first session (6.30-6.50pm)
Nick Haslam
In his first ever session, Nick will talk about using the CLR within SQL Server, why and when it should be used and then how.
